Kim Mancha a quitte une importante fonction dans la finance à San Francisco (Californie) en 2008 pour s'installer à Brantome. Ce rêve de vivre en France ne la jamais quitté depuis son enfance. C'est pourquoi ses enfants ont tous deux été dans une école bilingue Anglais/Français en Berkeley, Californie.
En 2004 elle a ouvert avec sa fille un magasin de design intérieur et meubles déco à Berkeley (Californie). Cette boutique ne vend que des meubles et objet recycles, de même que les tapisseries sont faites a partir de tissus de récupération.
En 2008 elle débarque ici avec ses deux petits chiens dans sa propriété de Brantome, près pour la grande aventure de sa vie. Après un rapide apprentissage de la langue Française, elle a ouvert sa petite boutique sur le même concept du magasin de Berkeley - Mignonne Décor, ouvert avec sa fille en 2006.

Cette boutique sera "The Bohemians". En plus de ce qu'elles ont fait en Californie, elle a tenu à ancrer sa boutique dans les créations des artistes et artisans locaux. C'est ainsi que de nombreux créateurs peuvent exposer et vendre leur production dans sa boutique qui est aussi une galerie d'art. La boutique present des choses artisanale, fait à main ou par des enterprises feminines, toujours chic et durable!

Proprietaire Kim Mancha's dreams of life in France began in Mr. Cavanaugh's 9th grade french class, where he breathed life into the idea of a different culture ... elegant, rich in history and beauty. As a young single mom, she found a way to send her kids to the French American school in Berkeley, California and was able to rub elbows with french expats and francophiles, all the while expanding her affinity to all things French.

After years of looking and dreaming, in 2007 Kim found the village she would soon call home, located in her favorite region ... the Dordogne. Kim bought an old stone house in the village and its adjoining atelier, which had housed an old forge. She soon shifted focus from house renovation to atelier renovation, creating a space for a small business in Brantôme.

Inspired by Mignonne Décor, the boutique founded with her daughter Johnelle in 2006, Kim created a space that reflects her spirit and philosophy. The Bohemians, opened in 2009 and evolving every year ... some items return and new ones are discovered. Kim scours the french countryside for old furniture with good bones that she can breathe new life into and she supports local artisans as well as guest artists from abroad. You'll find an ever changing variety of treasures at The Bohemians, including paint and workshops, handcrafted art, jewelry and design items. Plus, new and vintage décor and women's fashion.
Our name reflects our spirit ... eclectic, adventurous, curious and interesting ... bohemian vagabonds at heart!
